Kellogg to build RM425m halal plant at Bandar Enstek creating 300 new jobs!

US food manufacturer Kellogg Co or Kellogg’s, which is building a US$130 million (RM425.1 million) halal facility in Malaysia, aims to expand its supply chain capacity in the Asia-Pacific region.

The manufacturing facility is being built in Bandar Enstek, Negri Sembilan and would create some 300 new jobs when its first phase is completed by the middle of next year.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak officiated the groundbreaking for the new plant, which will produce halal certified Pringles crisps. It is only the second such facility in the region.

The company intends to manufacture more halal snack food in the Asia-Pacific.

Kellogg Co’s Asia-Pacific president Amit Banati said the Negri Sembilan factory will complement Kellogg’s other halal facility in Thailand.

“The creation of the new snacks manufacturing facility here represents a key milestone in the company’s ambition to become a global snacks player and will enable Kellogg company to better deliver delicious and high-quality snack food to consumers in the Asia-Pacific markets,” he said.

Banati added that this is a region in which the company has set ambitious growth targets and creating a footprint in the snacks business.

“This is a big step for us in ensuring that we stay relevant and expanding our supply chain capabilities. Building a new facility highlights the focus and commitment that the Asia-Pacific region is receiving from Kellogg company,” he reiterated.

Kellogg’s, the world’s largest manufacturer of ready-toeat breakfast cereals and second largest producer of savoury snacks, cookies and crackers, employs more than 2,200 employees across South- East Asia, Japan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, India, South Africa, China and Malaysia.

Currently, Kellogg Malaysia Sdn Bhd employs 35 people at its head office in Kuala Lumpur, whereas the company has one co-manufacturer in Malaysia for “Pringles”.

Banati pointed out that Kellogg’s investment in Malaysia will serve as a catalyst and will help increase net tax collection of around RM200 million over the next 10 years, while providing high export volume. https://www.facebook.com/serembanproperty?fref=ts

KPT meterai dua MOU bangun kampus tambahan pelajar 2015 UiTM Raub, Nilai dibina

PUTRAJAYA 25 Julai - Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi (KPT) menandatangani dua memorandum persefahaman (MoU) bagi pembangunan kampus Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) di Raub, Pahang dan Institut Latihan UiTM Nilai di Negeri Sembilan.
Majlis menandatangani MoU itu disaksikan Menteri Pengajian Tinggi, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin di sini hari ini.
Ketua Setiausaha KPT, Datuk Ab. Rahim Md. Noor berkata, kedua-dua projek pembangunan itu adalah kesinambungan agenda negara untuk menambah pengambilan pelajar daripada 100,000 kepada 200,000 menjelang 2015.
Katanya, projek tersebut adalah yang ketiga dan keempat daripada enam projek fasa dua pembangunan kampus UiTM di bawah inisiatif pembiayaan swasta (PFI) menerusi Rancangan Malaysia Ke-sepuluh (RMK-10).
''Kampus UiTM Raub membabitkan kos pembinaan bernilai RM300 juta dan mempunyai kapasiti akademik sebanyak 3,000 pelajar serta boleh menempatkan 1,500 pelajar di kolej kediamannya.
''Ia akan dibina di atas tapak seluas 31.6 hektar di Mukim Gali, Raub yang akan menempatkan Fakulti Sains Pentadbiran dan Pengajian Polisi, Fakulti Pengurusan Perniagaan dan Fakulti Sains Komputer dan Matematik," katanya ketika berucap pada majlis pemeteraian MoU itu.
Hadir sama Naib Canselor UiTM, Datuk Prof. Ir. Dr. Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar, Pengerusi Utusan Intelek Sdn. Bhd. Datuk Sahirudin Ab. Moin dan Pengerusi Eksekutif Protokol Elegan Sdn. Bhd. Datuk Abdul Mokhtar Ahmad.
Syarikat Utusan Intelek Sdn. Bhd. akan melaksanakan projek pembangunan kampus UiTM di Raub manakala syarikat Menang Corporation (M) Sdn. Bhd. bagi projek pembangunan Institut Latihan UiTM Nilai.
Institut Latihan UiTM Nilai merupakan sebuah institut latihan bertaraf tinggi yang akan dibina di atas tanah seluas 12.4 hektar di Bandar Baru Enstek.

Epsom College in Nilai to open in 2012

NILAI: Epsom College, Malaysia’s first British-styled boarding school, will open its doors in September 2012 and provide its 1,000-odd students with a British curriculum taught in English.

The 157-year-old establishment’s first sister college outside England would be built on a 20ha site at Bandar Enstek near here as part of the Kuala Lumpur Education City (KLEC) project.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who performed the ground-breaking ceremony yesterday, said he was privileged to welcome Epsom College to Malaysia.

“Thanks to our conducive socio-economic environment, progressive business climate and able political leadership, Malaysia is becoming an increasingly popular destination for many international students from Asia and from as far as the Middle East and Africa,” he said.

Muhyiddin said Malaysia was already the 11th largest education centre with about 90,000 international students from more than 100 countries.

Epsom College was set up in the south-east of England in 1857 and was then known as the Royal Medical Benevolent College. Its aim was to help orphans and widows of members of the medical profession pursue their education in medicine.

Epsom College board of governors chairman Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes, who is an alumnus, said the college involved an investment of RM140mil.

He said the college hoped to attract students from the South-East Asian region, adding it had a proud legacy and had produced numerous personalities who have made immense contributions in various fields, particularly medicine.

Among its alumni, or better known as “Old Epsomians”, were Britain’s former Lord Justice of Appeal Sir Anthony McCowan, geographer Sir Halford John Mackinder, British Secret In­tel­ligence Service head Sir John Scarlett, professional golfer Ross MacGowan, actor Stewart Gran­ger, Razvan Orasanu from Romania, who went on to become Europe’s youngest minister, and TuneAir Hotel Group CEO Mark Lankester.

Fernandes added that 75% of the school’s academic staff will come from the United Kingdom.

He said those who enrolled at Epsom College Malaysia would pay about 40% less in fees compared to their peers in Britain.

“We do not know for certain yet but they should be paying between RM60,000 and RM70,000 annually,” he said.

Epsom College UK headmaster Stephen Borthwick said they were happy to set up operations here and give the college a bigger international profile.
